Singapore Food Waste Initiative Success

At Enterprise Singapore's recent introduction of the Sustainability Playbook for Food & Beverage Companies, Ms. Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, highlighted Frasers Property malls where our WasteMaster system has been in operation as a successful case study.

This food waste valorisation initiative, a collaboration with Life Lab Resources (LLR) and Green Eco Technologies, has been implemented in five retail malls in Singapore and gathers food waste from tenants on-site. This is turned it into substrates that are high in nutrients and is ultimately transformed into high quality microbial protein for aquaculture feed.

The project incorporates waste upcycling into the food production ecosystem in accordance with the Singapore Green Plan 2030 vision and offers an environmentally friendly and sustainable way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As of the end of September 2024, more than 240 tonnes of food waste had been collected with the participation of more than 60 tenants. Green Eco Technologies is proud to be part of this innovative and collaborative process which has been cited as an example of success in Singapore.
